Sojhla History
Sojhla for Social Change, established in 2002 and registered in 2008, is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting civic education, food sovereignty, and climate justice. Based in southern Punjab, Pakistan’s agricultural heartland, Sojhla strives to address environmental sustainability, social justice, and food security challenges while empowering marginalized communities. Guided by principles of inclusivity, transparency, and collaboration, Sojhla envisions a society where everyone has access to basic human rights, sustainable livelihoods, and a healthy environment.
Approach and Impact
As an advocacy-driven organization, Sojhla actively challenges adverse national and international policies while uplifting the regions with underserved populations. The organization empowers communities through art and culture, using street theatre, songs and art work as well as awareness campaigns, capacity-building, and collective action to secure their rights.

Our mission is to empower communities, build capacity, and advocate for policies that foster social, political, economic, and environmental sustainability.
Sojhla Objectives:
- To dialogue with citizens about the importance of pro people democracy, human rights, and active citizenship.
- To interact with communities and civil society about current global food system, its challenges, and its impact on local communities, farmers, and the environment.
- To raise awareness about climate change and its disproportionate impacts on vulnerable communities, advocating for policies and practices that mitigate its effects.
- Raising income levels of the marginalized groups through involvement in agricultural, livestock and home-based skill development.
