Sojhla Governance

Sojhla’s General body consists of 60 members (35 female and 25 male). General body membership is voluntary and open for all residents of Pakistan. Seven-member board of directors that consists of eminent Pakistanis in the different walks of life like doctors, educationist and social workers governs the organization and are led by Executive Director. The board of directors is responsible for architecting strategic management directions, financial sustainability and periodic reviews focusing the performance of the organization.

Following are BODs of Sojhla for Social Change

Ms. Dr. Azra Talat Saeed (Chairperson)

She is a PhD. In agriculture (USA 1998), and Masters in Chemistry (Karachi University 1993). She started her career at Karachi as a lecturer of Chemistry. Dr. Azra Talat Saeed is the founder of the Roots for Equity, a development NGO in Pakistan. She is also a member of the international coordinating committee of the international league of people’s struggles. She has written and presented extensively on the impact of imperialism and neo liberal globalization on the massages in Pakistan. She has been part of several women rights and education related researches and studies. Her contribution towards the development and implementation of the Cod of Conduct for Sexual Harassment at the workplace” is the manor achievement, which has been endorsed by the parliament and has become a women Protection Bill, in the country. She has been elected as Chairperson of the Board of Directors- Sojhla for Social Change.

Mr. Jamashed Iqbal (Vice Chairperson)

Working as freelance consultant for various organization, such as search for common grounds, Sungi Development Foundation, Handicap international, Peace and education Foundation, Election commission of Pakistan and SPO Mr. Jamshad Iqbal organized and conducted over 100 workshops and training sessions mostly aimed on Vision, Peace and conflict Resolution, organization Development, Team building, Leadership. He has designed and taught may courses including Governance, Policy, Electoral process, Management and media techniques at the University of IQRA, Islamabead. He has many national and international publications to his credit. He has been elected as member of the Board of Directors of Sojhla for Social Change.

Mr. Muhammad Ali Azhar Bhutta (Treasure)

Mr. Muhammad Ali Azhar Bhutta is one of the senior/youngest Lawyer in Multan High Court. He is working as legal adviser in Doaba Foundation ’s since 2009. He got his MBA Finance and LLB from well-recognized university. Due to his outstanding performance and dozens of capacity building exposures, he has maintained his distinguished position among partner organizations as well. He has been elected as member of the Treasure of the Sojhla for Social Change

Ms. Samina Jafri (Member)

After Starting her professional career as a human rights activist in 2002, Samina Jafri has worked at progressively on different position in local and national development sector organization since the last 8 yeas. Her experience has been concentrated in programme planning, development communication advocacy, research and capacity building. Currently she is working in CCHD a nation nongovernmental organization. She has also been involved in extensive report writing and has represented above mentioned organization at local and national forums. She has been elected as Member Board of Director of Sojhla for Social Change

Mr. Ishrat Abbas (Member)

He is master in English and LLB; currently he is working as director in KAPITAL Associate. He is also serving as member Multan Bar Council, Vice President of Multan Import Export trade, Member of High court bar Council of Islamabad. He has been elected as Member of Board of Sojhla for Social Change.

Mr. Wakar Ahmad Khan (Member)

He is Master in English Literature and he served as a teacher for more than 10 years in different educational institutions. He remained as district Manager of SAVE THE CHILDREN PAKISTAN for 2 years and currently he has working as free lance development consultant for various organization. He has been elected as member of Board of Sojhla.

Mian Muhammad Qaswar (Member)

He obtained his Master Degree in Social Work from B.Z University. He remained as Director, Producer of ROHI T.V Multan. He is also an active member of Multan Press Club. He has been elected as Member Board of Directors of Sojhla for Social Change

Mr. Zhaoor Hussain Joya (Executive Director)

Zahoor Hussain Joya is the Founder and Executive Director of Sojhla for Social Change commonly known as Sojhla, a leading local NGO in Southern Punjab working for the culture & peace and securing the future of marginalized communities especially women. He is also serving as Punjab convener of Pakistan Kisan Mazdoor Tehreek (PKMT). He is member of Progressive Youth Group (PYF) network active in 25 districts of Pakistan District Coordinator of Advocacy Support Unit (ASU). He is also member of international SUFI MOVEMENT and member of Pakistan Peace Network. He plays a pivotal role in bringing trade unions, media organization peasant’s movement and civil society organizations together at national forums to struggle for the common cause.
